What do you guys think would be needed for a trail fix of a broken winch? I'm thinking, that the two things that could probably go would be a broken cable or a blown selenoid. Anyone with insight? Also how would you test for a blown selenoid when you would be facing a pack of them.

Good idea and good question also. Not sure on how to test a solenoid, but my winch (Champion 8000) has 4 of them. They're not real easy to get at though with winch mounted as you need to separate the centre section to remove the cover. So a trail fix might not be an option in my case. I have a second winch at home I am overhauling (same as my mounted one) so I may be able to report on some of this in weeks to come.
